Cleveland County Water (CCW) is a Sanitary District located in Cleveland County, NC. CCW is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Water Plant Operator I, II or III dependent upon qualifications. CCW serves public water supply to a population of 60,000 and has over 22,000 active accounts.
The Water Plant Operator position is responsible for collection of water samples, making regular inspections of water plant and equipment to ascertain that it is always in proper operation, changes plant processes as necessary to improve plant efficiency, prepares reports and other types of correspondence, reads meters, gauges, and dials and keeps logs of readings, and other related work as apparent or assigned.
Qualifications require education and experience equivalent to graduation with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Some knowledge or thorough knowledge (dependent upon level hired) of the methods and procedures involved in the operating characteristics and maintenance principles pertinent to water treatment plant operations; knowledge of hydraulic, chemical, and mechanical principles pertinent to water treatment plant operations; knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions; knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment and associated software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Special Requirements:
Plant Operator III: Possession of a NC Grade A Surface Water Treatment Certification upon hire. Ability to obtain a NC Physical/Chemical certification.
Plant Operator II: Possession of a NC Grade B Surface Water Treatment Certification upon hire. Ability to obtain a NC Bacteriological certification.
Plant Operator I: Required to obtain a Grade C Surface Water Treatment certification within eighteen (18) months of hire date.
