Mr. Gilbert has been employed with Cleveland County Water since 2016. He serves as the Assistant General Manager. He previously served as the Water Plant Superintendent/ORC. Prior to this he served as the Water Plant Superintendent for the City of Newton from 2013-2016 and a Water Plant Operator for the City of Lincolnton from 2006-2013.
Mr. Gilbert was born and raised in Lincolnton, NC where he graduated from West Lincoln High School in 2006. He received an Associates in Business Administration with High Honors from Gaston College in 2024 and is set to graduate from Western Carolina University in December of 2026 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Law. He is a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the NC Water Operators Association (NCWOA), and a Volunteer Fireman with the Northbrook Volunteer Fire Department where he serves as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Mr. Gilbert holds an A Distribution Operators Certificate, an A Surface Water Treatment Certificate, a Grade I Physical/Chemical Wastewater license and a Bacteriological Certificate all from the State of NC. He is also a certified instructor for many of the NC Water Operators certification courses.
Mr. Gilbert has been married to his wife Brandi since 2007 and they have one son. He attends church at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Vale where he has served as a Deacon.
In his spare time, he enjoys working on his hobby farm with the animals, attending games and events at Western Carolina University and hunting.
